COOKIE POLICY

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your device through web pages. They serve as essential tools for providing various information society services. Among other functions, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user's or device’s browsing habits. Depending on the data collected, cookies can be used to recognise users and improve the services offered.

Types of cookies

Depending on who manages the domain from which cookies are sent and processes the data collected, cookies can be classified into two types:

  • First-party cookies: These are sent to the user's device from a server or domain managed by the website owner, which provides the requested service.

  • Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user's device from a server or domain not managed by the website owner, but by another entity that processes the data collected through the cookies.

If cookies are installed from a server or domain managed by the website owner but the data collected is handled by a third party, they are not considered first-party cookies.

Cookies can also be classified based on the time they remain stored in the user's browser:

  • Session cookies: These are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are usually used to store information relevant to providing a one-time service (e.g., a list of purchased products).

  • Persistent cookies: These remain stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie provider, ranging from a few minutes to several years.

Additionally, there is another classification based on the purpose for which the collected data is processed:

  • Technical cookies: These allow users to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use different features, such as controlling data traffic and communication, identifying sessions, accessing restricted areas, remembering shopping cart items, completing a purchase process, registering for an event, using security elements during browsing, storing multimedia content, or sharing content on social media.

  • Personalisation cookies: These allow users to access a service with predefined general characteristics based on criteria stored on the user's device, such as language preferences, browser type, or regional settings.

  • Analytics cookies: These enable website owners to track and analyse user behaviour on linked websites. The information collected is used to measure website activity and create user browsing profiles to introduce improvements based on user behaviour patterns.

  • Advertising cookies: These enable the most efficient management of advertising spaces.

  • Behavioural advertising cookies: These store information about users’ browsing habits, obtained through continuous observation, to create specific profiles and display targeted ads accordingly.

  • External social media cookies: These allow visitors to interact with content from different social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn). They are only generated for users of those social networks and are subject to the privacy policies of each platform.

Disabling and deleting cookies

You can allow, block, or delete cookies installed on your device through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some services. The method to disable cookies varies by browser, but it can usually be done through the Tools or Options menu. You can also check the Help section of your browser for instructions. Users can choose which cookies they want to allow on this website at any time.
